Tate Addis
Artist-in-Residence
Organist Tate Addis’s performances have been described as “spectacular” and acclaimed for their “boundless technique and deeply communicative musicality,” leading the Kansas City Star to write, “this organist has the right stuff.” He has appeared as a solo recitalist throughout the United States and Europe, and his performances have been broadcast in North America on American Public Media’s Pipedreams and in Europe on Radio Klassik Stephansdom. A church musician since childhood, he has held positions at First Baptist Church of Asheville, Brick Presbyterian Church in New York City, Second Presbyterian Church in Kansas City, and Yale Berkeley Divinity School in New Haven. He currently serves as Artist-in-Residence at St. James, Hendersonville, where he performs annual organ recitals and accompanies the St. James Choir for their fall and spring Evensongs. He also serves as Organist and Assistant Conductor at Centenary United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem and as the collaborative keyboardist for Blue Ridge Consort, a professional vocal ensemble in Western North Carolina. Addis holds degrees from Wichita State University, the University of Missouri–Kansas City, Yale University, and Oberlin Conservatory.
Mindy Campos
Director of Operations for Administration and Communication
Mindy Campos plays a key role in providing leadership and direction in several administrative areas including communications, facilities, and scheduling. Mindy manages church calendars, facility maintenance, works with ministry leaders to coordinate events, and oversees all communication and information that comes into and flows out of St. James. Mindy holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from UNC Asheville. Prior to St. James, she worked with several non-profit organizations, including Hands On! Children’s Museum and Kanuga Conference Center. Her most cherished years were spent growing up as a pastor’s kid on Kauai, HI. She was immersed in an atmosphere where the warmth of faith extended to help those in need. She has a deep passion for connecting with people and fostering an open and loving church community. Since moving to Hendersonville in 2014, she enjoys exploring the area’s natural beauty through hiking and camping, and also attends as many Minor League Baseball games as possible. Her greatest joys are building Lego sets and spending time with her family and her gorgeous cat, Lady Mary.
Brad Gee
Director of Music Ministries
I have been Director of Music and Organist at St. James Episcopal Church since 2002. I conduct the St. James Choir, play the Harrison & Harrison organ for services, and oversee a multi-faceted music program which includes services of Choral Evensong followed by organ recitals. I have been a member of the Association of Anglican Musicians since 1996, have served twice as the Region IV Chair, and was co-chair of the Palm Beach national conference in 2000. I also served on the planning committee for the 2011 AAM national conference held in the Carolinas. I have served as housemaster at the Royal School of Church Music summer courses in Raleigh, Charlotte, and Wilkes-Barre, PA. Prior to this position, I was Organist/Choirmaster at St. Richard’s Episcopal Church in Winter Park, Florida where I played organ and harpsichord in Winter Park Bach Festival Performances, served as guest clinician for the Orlando Liturgical Conference and Episcopal Diocese of Southwest Florida workshops, and was Dean of the Central Florida Chapter of the American Guild of Organists.

Born and raised here in the mountains of NC, I love the small town feel and exploring the mountains around the state with my family. While spending my childhood being homeschooled by my family, I discovered the Episcopal church through the Holy Family Church out in Mills River and immediately fell in love with the warm reception, open minds, and loving faith. It wasn’t long before we came to St. James and joined our community here and found that same spirit and love in every part of the people that call this church their own. With my schooling finished, I set out into the workforce and worked a variety of jobs both big and small, but always with the support of my family and community behind. Being hired on to work at St. James in 2019, I hope to do this church proud and keep the place running as best I can! I love to go out into nature and photograph, but I also like to watch movies and other media when weather comes a’ calling.

I grew up in Central Florida and earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Florida. My lifelong dream of living in the mountains came true when my husband and I moved here in 1985. I found the Episcopal Church just a few years later, and I have dearly loved both ever since. I was the Parish Administrator at St. John in the Wilderness Episcopal Church for seven years and served as the Administrative Assistant at Immaculata Catholic School for almost three years after that. Coming to work at St. James feels like coming home. I love spending time with my family and friends, wandering in the woods to see wildflowers and waterfalls, growing orchids, and singing in our wonderful choir.

Born and raised in Batow, Florida, I hold a BSEd (’76) and MME (’89) from Western Carolina University. Retired from teaching elementary music and folk art in Henderson County Schools, I currently volunteer at Historic Johnson Farm and playing guitar with Sassafras, a local bluegrass band. I also enjoy quilting, reading, TV and traveling in my Mustang convertible.
I lead Allelu!, our contemporary/folk music group which rehearses on Wednesday nights at 5:15 and we lead music worship on 2nd Sundays at 5 p.m. and on 5th Sundays at 10:15 a.m.
