While waiting in line for water I decided to pray rather than listen to the radio. I began the Lord’s Prayer, and I got to the part “give us this day our daily bread” and had to stop the tears. This takes on a whole new meaning when your refrigerator is empty and the last crust of bread has been eaten. I thought that maybe at that moment I was closer to those who came out to hear Jesus so many years before- they probably had hunger and not much else.
Later that day someone gave me a loaf of bread. What a gift. It means much more to me now.
