A Brief History of St. James Charities Foundation
St. James Charities Foundation was legally established as a 501 c (3) nonprofit organization in 1987. The Vestry appointed twelve persons to be the founding Board of Stewards for the Saint James Charities Foundation; nine lay members were to come from St. James and three from Henderson County. The sole object and purpose of the trust “is to meet human and community needs in the City of Hendersonville and Henderson County.” Over the years, bequests have been made to the Charities Foundation, and these funds are managed by outside investment administrators.

St. James Charities Foundation 2026 Grant Applications
St. James Charities Foundation is a social outreach organization founded by St. James Episcopal Church in Hendersonville. Since its inception in 1988, the Foundation has awarded $912,434.00 in grants to over 110 agencies to support those in need in Henderson County.
The St. James Charities Foundation is currently accepting grant applications from agencies and non-profit organizations serving Henderson County. Applications will be accepted from organizations that address Hunger, Homelessness, Health, and Education within Henderson County.
