St. James Change Ringers Ring Out for Peace

The change ringers of St. James Episcopal Church in Hendersonville will commemorate the 80th Anniversary of D-Day by participating in Ring Out for Peace which is sponsored by the Central Council of Church Bell Ringers (CCCBR) and our North American Guild of Change Ringers (NAGR). For centuries church bells have sounded, calling people to worship, in celebration of special occasions, in remembrance and to mark special events. The tower bells will be rung for about 30 minutes beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 6. The bells can be heard on the grounds and surrounding area of the church which is located at 766 N. Main St.

June 6, 2024, marks the 80th anniversary of D-Day, when Allied forces mounted the largest amphibious invasion the world has ever witnessed. In 1944, Operation Overlord saw over 5,000 ships and landing craft set down more than 130,000 troops on five Normandy beaches in an action that would bring about the liberation of north-west Europe.
